Damlataş Cave is located on the seaside of Alanya district of Antalya province and is the first cave opened to tourism in Turkey. The cave was discovered in 1948 as a result of the explosion of dynamite during the construction of a quarry for stone during the construction of the port.
The cave got its name from the water drops dripping from the stalactites and continuing to drip.
One of the most important features of the cave, besides its beauty, is that its air never changes in summer and winter, and it is 22 °C, 95 percent humidity, and a constant pressure of 760 mm. The air of the cave contains 71 percent nitrogen, 20.5 percent oxygen, 2.5 per ten thousand carbon dioxide and some radioactive. Unlike normal, the air is also good for asthma patients, thanks to 8-10 times more carbon dioxide and high humidity. There are even patients who come here under the control of a doctor and apply a treatment for approximately 21 days.
