Side is a peninsula of 350-400 meters wide, built on the coastal part of Antalya's Manavgat district. It is 75 km from the city center. It was the most important port city of the Pamphylia region where it was located.
The name Side means "pomegranate" in Anatolian language. According to some inscriptions found in this information, the history of Side dates back to the Hittites. According to some sources, VII. The Arab geographer Idrisi referred to Side as "Burnt Antalya". Selimiye village was founded by Cretan immigrants on the ruins of Side, which is known as a trade and port city.
